Introduction

• My Topic:

My topic is practices and therapies used in modern psychiatric health, and those archaic practices that still exist today that should be outlawed such as Electro-convulsive Therapy and waterboarding as psychotherapy.

• My contact:

I contacted Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of Health and Human Services for the US. She has a lot of power and should have the power to make the changes I'm looking for.

•Other Options

Some other options or routes that I could have taken with this topic were to contact some of the hospitals/ institutions that still use the torturous methods of therapy, however that would not have gotten the change I was looking for, simply because I will not be able to change the mind of a doctor who has been using these methods for years without conforming to society's standards.

• Get Involved!!!

If you find this topic just as interesting as I do, get involved by doing a bit of research into institutions that still do these therapies like JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY and try to make contact with them and confront them about the issues.

• So just to let you guys, the viewers, know, this blog is part of a project i had to do for my English class. If you are interested, you can see my classmates' blogs at the link below:
